Garry Marshall’s star-stuffed rom-com “New Year’s Eve” (out today) may not mark the first on-screen pairing of Zac Efron and Michelle Pfeiffer, but it certainly boasts the friendliest.
We recently caught up with the 24-year-old at the New York City premiere for the ensemble flick, where he recalled working with (and being awed by) the actress back in 2007. “I remember the first time I met her was on ‘Hairspray,’ and she’s Michelle Pfeiffer—she had that aura, star aura—so I was always very nervous around her. We never really got the chance to connect on that movie,” he said.
But that all changed with “New Year’s Eve,” in which Michelle plays a depressed office worker who hires bike messenger Zac to help her achieve all of her resolutions before the stroke of midnight. And as it turns out, Michelle was instrumental in getting the hunk to sign on to the project.
“I got a voicemail from her, and she said, ‘Look, I would love to do this if you want to do it, and I want to take it to the next level.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m in 1,000 percent, and I love you so much, thank you so much for that phone call. I can’t wait, let’s do it!’ And here we are. It was a dream come true,” Zac said.

We’ve been following 15-year-old Abigail Breslin‘s career ever since she shimmied onto the silver screen (and into our hearts) at the tender age of 10 in the wonderfully weird “Little Miss Sunshine.” And with the release of this week’s rom-com romp “New Year’s Eve,” the actress is showing just how grown up she’s become, flashing her bra (“This isn’t ‘Girls Gone Wild’!”) and puckering up for her first movie kiss. So in honor of her on-screen evolution, we’re naming Miss Breslin this week’s Girl Crush!
In exchange for the honor, we asked the star to tell us which Hollywood ladies she admires. “I really like Reese Witherspoon. Anne Hathaway, I really like,” she said. “I love all their work.”
Abigail’s already had the opportunity to soak in some screen time with Anne thanks to 2004’s “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.” Little Abbie (um, can we call you that, Abigail?) played the tiny tot Princess Mia plucked from the parade crowd. (Yes, we knew that without googling. Our nerdiness knows no bounds…)

We interrupt your regularly scheduled “Twilight” programming for this message about one of our other favorite vampire series: “True Blood.” Because you know what? They’re going back to set. Like, soon!
When MTV News’ own Jim Cantiello caught up with star Joe Manganiello at last night’s GQ Men of the Year event, the hunk not only revealed that Bon Temps is back in business in just a week and a half, but that he’s also gotten his paws on two scripts! So what can we expect?
“There’s going to be a lot of werewolves,” Joe dished. “A lot of new werewolves. Which I’m very excited about. I’m excited to meet them all.”
In case you’re wondering, Joe doesn’t have much say over who is cast as his big, bad wolf brotheren, mostly because producers know to play to his strengths.
“‘Just get naked and do what we say,'” Joe joked, imitating his “True Blood” bosses.
And that’s why they’re in charge.

Did Kristen not talking in the clip have you wondering what’s up? It certainly made us question what was going on. Also, what’s up with Charlize Theron‘s milk bath? Is that some skin secret we just haven’t heard about yet?
In our new trailer commentary for “Snow White and the Huntsman,” we take a look at some of the nagging questions we have left after the otherwise awesome trailer. Click play on the video above to hear all of our thoughts!
