Cassandra Clare Unveils ‘Mortal Instruments’ Teaser Poster

by Meg Malone

It may not be much, but at least it’s something to get our imaginations going! Today, author Cassandra Clare tweeted the teaser poster for the movie adaptation of “City of Bones,” the first book in her supernatural series, “The Mortal Instruments.”

While we wish there was a little more than just text and a glimmer of light to ease our anticipation (August 2013 is so far away!), it makes sense considering production isn’t set to start until next month.

The film will star Lily Collins as protagonist Clary Fray, who learns about her family’s secret Shadowhunter past. The (recently single) Jamie Campbell Bower will also star as Jace Wayland.

The past couple weeks have seen a few fresh faces added to the production. Just a few days ago, the roles of Pangborn and Blackwell were filled by Kevin Durand and Robert Maillet, and back in June, Jemima West was cast as Isabelle Lightwood.

So, who has their fingers crossed for pictures of the cast in action once production gets underway? You know we do!

Nikki Reed Heads To The ‘Empire State’ To Finish Filming

by Meg Malone

Making any trips this weekend, Crushers? We’re probably staying put, but Nikki Reed is making her way to New York City to finish up her movie!

Taking off to NYC for the last two days on #empirestate

— Nikki Reed (@NikkiReed_I_Am) July 6, 2012

The trip seems fitting since the aforementioned flick is called “Empire State,” after all. Nikki may be headed to NYC for now, but as we mentioned earlier this week in our Comic-Con 2012 preview, she is scheduled to be at the San Diego convention for the Entertainment Weekly: Powerful Women in Pop Culture (aka Women Who Kick Ass!) panel.

“Empire State” is an ’80s-set film about two friends from childhood who decide to rob an armored car depository. While we have some dish on co-star Emma Robert’s character, there’s not too much yet from Nikki, though she said she was intimidated by the character she is playing. We’ll just have to wait and see what that may look like, but until then, safe travels and we’ll see you in San Diego soon!

Katy Perry Glams Up For Her Big London Premiere

by Meg Malone

We’ve certainly had Spidey on the brain with the release of “The Amazing Spider-Man” today, but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about the heart drawn on our calendar marking the release of “Katy Perry: Part of Me” on July 5.

Last week we saw Victoria Justice all dolled up in her heart-shaped 3-D glasses at the U.S. premiere, and now it’s Katy Perry‘s turn to celebrate her film’s London premiere in her typical sparkly style.

IT’S THE ?LONDON? PREMIERE! Even my lashes are excited! See you soon! #KP3D twitpic.com/a3gpz4

We’ve got to hand it to Katy—we can barely find time to brush mascara on in the morning, but this chick is always rocking the glam!

“Katy Perry: Part of Me” is a documentary chronicling the life of the singing star that will include her concert performances, a glimpse of Katy’s life backstage and offstage, and a look at her early life. Katy talked to MTV News at the U.S. premiere where she said that she hoped this film would be “an inspiration for people.”

Victoria Justice Hearts Premiere Of Katy Perry’s Movie

Pink was the new red at last night’s “Katy Perry: Part of Me” premiere, where the chanteuse walked the bubble-gum-hued carpet outside Hollywood’s iconic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and performed a number of her hits (including “Firework” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”) for gathered fans. There were plenty of famous faces in attendance too, including “Victorious” star Victoria Justice, who got in on the fun with the cute 3-D specs. Adorbs!

The concert flick follows Katy during her most recent tour, chronicling both the highs and lows, including her recent divorce from comic Russell Brand.

“I guess some of it is just hopefully an inspiration for people,” she told MTV News. “When they see it, they are like, ‘Oh, yeah, she goes through some sh– too. I can’t dodge life’s curve balls if Katy Perry can’t dodge life’s curve balls.’ “

“Katy Perry: Part of Me” hits theaters July 5.

Until next time, Crushers, we wish you super Tweet Dreams.

‘Beautiful Creatures’ Wraps Production

The magic is over…for now. Kami Garcia, one-half of the writing team behind the Southern-set supernatural series “Beautiful Creatures,” took to Twitter today to inform fans that shooting has wrapped on the novel’s big-screen adaptation, which is scheduled to hit theaters February 13, 2013.

The film stars Alice Englert as Lena Duchannes, the new girl in town who has a mysterious connection to cutie Ethan Wate (played by Alden Ehrenreich). Lena also happens to be a caster (in other words, a witch), which poses its own set of issues in the pair’s close-minded hamlet.

MTV News visited the New Orleans-based set earlier this year to talk to the film’s young stars, as well as witness a goosebump-inducing effects scene that is sure to spellbind audiences early next year. Be sure to check it out!

Until next time, beautiful creatures, we wish you Tweet Dreams!
